A new low

June 25, 2007

The Yankees kept catcher Jorge Posada and outfielder Bobby Abreu out of the starting lineup after Saturday’s 13-inning loss, but both players appeared as pinch hitters in the seventh. Johnny Damon also pinch-hit in the seventh, hitting a one-out single before stealing second and advancing to third on a throwing error. (Source)

Sunday’s game was a joke, I’m just glad I don’t have to watch more of this crap until Tuesday. Joe sent in a lineup card that had four automatic outs (Cairo, Thompson, Nieves, Mussina). They are now 11.5 behind the Red Sox and 6.5 behind the wild card Indians.

Do you ever remember it being this bad, this late? Hopefully they can get it together at home, but I’m conceding the division.

Please DFA ME!

Kyle Farnsworth failed to get through the eighth inning again Sunday. He only got one batter out and let in three runs, two earned. I take this preformance as a cry for help, he wants out and I want him gone. Ca$h, get rid of this guy.

At least we had runners to strand

June 24, 2007

The Yankees had a chance to win it in the 11th when they loaded the bases with one out against Steve Kline. But Hideki Matsui struck out on three pitches and Robinson Cano grounded out to end the threat. New York has lost four of five.

“It’s disappointing,” Matsui said through an interpreter. “We had opportunities to capitalize but we didn’t. It’s time to move on.” (Source)

Terrible game Saturday. The Yankees should’ve won 10-4, instead we lose 6-5 in 13 innings. Cano, Matsui and Abreu left 17 men on base combined. Inexcusable.

Give this man an extension

Dude went insane, he’s now 8-10 with 2 BB, HR, 2B, 3 RBI, 4 RS in this series.

Oh, What A Night

A-Rod was amazing last night: 4-4, BB, 2B, 2 RBI, RS

Yanks Win 7-3, Igawa Returns

June 23, 2007

igawa.jpg

  • Igawa 4.2 IP 5 HA 2 ER 3 BB 5 K
  • A-Rod 4-4, BB, 2 RBI, 1 RS
  • If you asked me Thursday, I would’ve signed for 2 out of 3 in this series. I was worried about Igawa vs. Cain. But, now I will take nothing less than a sweep.
  • 10.5 back of the Sox
  • 5 back of the Indians

Proctor Now An Answer to Triva Question

June 23, 2007

Scott Proctor gave up #749 to one Barry Lamar Bonds, his 15th of the year. He’s now six away from 755 and Hank Aaron.

Here is a scenario: Bonds breaks the record, the Giants fall way out of the race and look to trade Bonds to the American League so he can DH. Why wouldn’t the Yankees be interested? Besides the media circus that Bonds brings, the crazy New York Media too and that he cheated and defaced the one truely pure thing in his life. Beside all of that stuff, why not?

He’s leading the league with a .490 OBP, he has an OPS+ of 182 and he’s walked 71 times this year. Look at this lineup:

1B Damon
SS Jeter
RF Abreu
3B A-Rod
DH Bonds
C Posada
LF Matsui
2B Cano
CF Melky (possibly Milton Bradley)

They won’t be able to walk Bonds as much in this lineup and if they do then the bottom of the order would dominate. I think its a good idea and I can’t stand Bonds.

Igawa To Start Tonight

June 22, 2007

The Yankees will demote one of their relief pitchers today to make room for left-hander Kei Igawa to start against the Giants.Igawa was 2-1 with a 7.63 ERA in six games for the Yankees before being demoted to the minors in May. He then went 3-3, 2.65 in six starts as his delivery was changed.

“I want to see comfort, I want to see him in a good rhythm, a good tempo,” Torre said. “The first few innings will be important for him.”

Igawa hasn’t pitched since June 14.

C’mon, let’s see the new and improved Igawa! Ugh.

Hughes to Have Boot Removed

June 22, 2007

RHP Phil Hughes is scheduled to have the boot removed from his left ankle on Friday. Hughes suffered a Grade III sprain while rehabbing in May from a left hamstring injury.

It is possible that Hughes could be back in the rotation in August. It will be interesting to see if we can even get a good month out of Kei Igawa.

Will Damon Ever Be DL’d?

June 22, 2007

Manager Joe Torre said Thursday that he plans to watch Johnny Damon (abdomen) for several more days before deciding if he needs a stint on the disabled list.

Damon started in center field Thursday, moving to first base in the late innings while going 0-for-4 at the plate. “It looked like he was, at times, hampered a little bit,” Torre said. “His last at-bat was good; he hit the line drive to third base. He’s going to battle you.”

This is incredibly dumb. Damon should’ve been on the DL months ago. I already have a solution to replace him for the rest of the year.

The Pavano Conclusion

June 22, 2007

Here is a great feature on the disaster that was Carl Pavano’s stay in New York. I would give you some insight or my opinion, but if I even start to go into a Pavano based discussion blood will shoot out my nose. For the cleanliness of my laptop, I will end this post immediatly.

Yanks Swept, Ugly Series

June 21, 2007

This was an absolutly brutal series for Yankee fans. To watch those Colorado Rockies fans break out the brooms today was something I not only never thought I’d see in my lifetime, but also something I really could’ve done without today. Yanks are 35-35, 10.5 back of the Red Sox. I think I’m going to vomit.

Here is a cliff notes game story:

  • Clemens was bad 4.1 IP 7 HA 4 ER 1 BB 6 K
  • Hitting wasn’t there again.
  • Base running mistakes by Jeter all day.
  • Damon 0-6 this series, he sucks, go on the DL already. Bring me Milton Bradley.
  • We go to San Fran, Matt Cain vs. Kei Igawa Friday night.
