This guy used to run the Mets

The following came from Steve Phillips’ mouth on SportsCenter this morning:

The Red Sox should start Tim Wakefield in Game Four tonight because starting Josh Beckett means they are managing for Game Seven, which they aren’t gauranteed. They shouldn’t manage for a Seven Game Series.

But Steve, it is a seven game series.

Yes, we know they aren’t gauranteed a seven game series until they win three games in the series, but the Red Sox have a lot better chance of forcing a game seven, when they pitch the only reliable starter that they have.

By the way, not pitching Josh Beckett tonight means that if the series goes to game seven, the Red Sox will start none other than Dice-K Matsuzaka, yeah the guy who didn’t take a shower and stared into his locker for hours after Game Three.
