Speculation out of New York is that Yankees great Ron Guidry likely won’t be invited back to the team’s coaching staff, even if Torre returns for a 13th season.
According to reports, the internal favorite to replace Guidry is Dave Eiland, who worked with young arms Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy in the team’s minor league system. (Source)
Great, just a great move.
Look at how Phil’s numbers spiked when Eiland was with the team in September: he put up a 2.73 ERA in 29.2 IP. I don’t think it was a coincidence.
