NEW YORK — Alex Rodriguez is headed back to the New York Yankees as the American League’s Most Valuable Player.

Here are some of ARod’s accomplishments from this historic 2007 season:

  • 5th player in 75 years to led MLB in HR, RBI, R
  • Joined Babe Ruth as the only Yankees to hit 50 HR, 150 RBI
  • Only player ever to hit 50 HR, 150 RBI, 140 R, 20 SB
  • 4th Yankee to hit 50 HR, first since Mantle and Maris in ‘61
  • Only right-handed hitter to hit 50 HR for the Yankees
  • Set record for most HR by a 3B ever (54)
  • Only Yankee 3B to ever SLG .500 in any season, he has done it 4X
  • 1st player ever to hit 6 HR and 14 RBI in first 7 games
  • 3 career walk-off grand slams ties a record held by Vern Stevens
  • Record for first to get to 14 HR with fewest team games (19)
  • Youngest player to hit 500th HR
  • 6th Yankee to win 2 MVP Awards
  • Tied for second all-time in career MVP Awards (3)
  • ‘07 was the 8th time finishing in the top two in the AL in VORP

Simply, this was one of the greatest seasons anyone has ever had.
